Aug. 23rd, 2004 04:56 pmIt just took me twice as long as it should have to make dinner - well, the bulk of it, still have to do rice - because I'm in the wrong bloody kitchen and while there's an organisation to most of it, some things are in totally random places, as far as I can tell, and it's just wrong. Also, no stock cubes. I thought, while at the shop, "should I get some just in case?" "No!" thought I, "that is one of the things that adults' kitchens always, always have, for no good reason." And yet, there were none, or at least none that I could find. (ETA: They were hiding. Viciously.)
So I shoved in some mixed herbs and paprika instead.
Grrrrrr. Also, making stuff is fun. I made shortbread last night, and it turned out very greasy indeed, but still quite nice. Also, while
tdarien_shields was assisting in the hunt for stock cubes, he found the sugar, which is helpful, though means I didn't need to carry back that packet from the shop. But it was Trade Aid UK sugar, which claims to be nice.
Oh! Am planning on getting a new savings account. Money or ethics? There's a Fair Trade one, but the interest on the ISA is about 1% lower than I can get elsewhere. So do I discard twenty percent of my profit in favour of knowing the money is being used in an ethical manner? I think I will, because it's been mouldering in a lower-interest account for years and I wouldn't even have thought about it if I hadn't needed to dip into it. So. Hmm. Still need to get certified ID and such. Hassle.
Ought to go stir the stuff.
