Sep. 10th, 2005 08:13 pmYesterday I came to the internet cafe and spent five hours here and did not even do what I meant to do.
The night before was the last night for a fair few people so we had dinner together on base and then went out on the town. We did a little thing with slips of paper and nice things said about the staff and also best moments etc. I wore a new dress which got me quite a few wolf-whistles - quite odd.
Next to me is a little white dog which just yapped at a nice big black one. Heh. On my other side, a small boy.
Today I slept all day. Well, I woke up early - roomie going to Coba, leaving half-six-ish - and read a book and then went back to sleep. Woke intermittently, and then went back to sleep. Ought to eat something. Tomorrow will be writing postcards and learning Spanish. Sigh.
Am going to go down to Guatemala, partly visa issues, partly to see Tikal and Lake Atitlan. Need to work out money situation at some point. Plan is to be back here for the last Monday in September which is sign-up night for our classes, then maybe back to Merida for a night or two and see ruins around there, then here again to do set-up stuff for the base. Ugh. Right now would rather just sleep here for three weeks. But will travel and will not read for a bit - have been reading Anais Nin´s diary, colume which talks of the Yucatan, and feeling highly guilty that am spending my time here buried in other people´s fantasies. So. Writing. And then teaching and writing. Hmm
