kbkToday I am Betsy from Russia. No, really. Well, not quite.
I had my first lesson down at Muyil - it went all right, btw, a couple of hiccups, one game they took forever to understand, and I was half an hour late because I'd gone to Cancun in the morning to sort out my visa (which is done, thank the little fishes) and then the bus back was late and then the colectivo to Muyil was full and. Yeah. - and I was waiting for the bus and I waited and waited and then this guy in a tow-truck stopped and offered a lift. And I was hacked off and getting bitten. So I said yes.
He had a little English. Probably less than my Spanish, which is really saying something. His name is Selmo. And when I said Escocia, he decided it was Russia, and I tried to explain but he was fairly determined. And I'd said Betty instead of Beth because the 'th' sound is hard and it feels a bit rude to get Mexicans to try if they're not in class learning English - in that case it's OK because 'th' is kind of important and they might as well practice as much as they can.
Not that I want to be Betty, or Betsy, you understand. Just. Yeah.
Eek and agh and I really ought to eat. And stop grinning.
