I am going to run away from the internet. I am going to read four papers which are background for my thing which is due in three-and-a-half days. Then I am going to curl up further under the duvet and possibly be warm again.
*shivers*
Just a little more feminist outrage will give me the energy to do this. (I have decided my topic is gendered publication in the field of library & information science. One of the papers I have... actually, that's enough to boost the outrage. According to student perceptions, the jobs with more prestige have less women in them. Sigh. I think the papers I have found are quite good and probably will go in my bibliography but I really ought to read them, to some extent. Sigh, again. OK. Outrage. Energy. Go.)
ETA: And, to my distinct lack of surprise, all seven authors represented are female. Because men don't even notice this shit.
ETAA: *jaw-drop* -> "Women are better at the keeping the customer happy often, making them feel comfortable, making the process nicer for everyone . . . is that a skill? Isn't that just women? (Male worker, [computer industry])" (Woodfield, 2002)
ETAAA: omg. done. though I will have to take more, thingy. citations to track down. but I can do that tomorrow. Unfortunately my chosen thing... might not have been chosen if I'd read the papers first. But oh well. I can blather. It's not like I have to actually do it. Just pretend that it's a good idea. Whatevs. omgsleeeeep. wwwaaaarrrrrmmmm.
