I have received a sign that I really ought to tidy my room. This morning I fell over and wrenched my shoulder. Feels like I've pulled muscles at the top of my arm, and of course it's my right arm and I'm fairly right-handed. Sore, sore, sore. Not helped by spending the morning helping paper walls. Sigh.

I meant to post yesterday, with this

A little backstory to start with. A couple of weeks back, we noticed a saw in the bathroom that neither of us had seen before, said "that's odd" and then ignored it. We bought stuff for the bathroom last Thursday - went into B&Q for polyfilla and came out with polyfilla, paint, a toilet, a sink, taps and a shower mixer. On Saturday I went to Embra, stayed over with K and she brought me back on Sunday, and wanted to see the flat. While there, I noticed that the shower mixer and taps were not there. I asked Dad when we got to the house, and he hadn't moved them, so he went over and checked, and realised some other stuff was gone as well.

Skip to yesterday. First we had a Crime Scene man come and look around, and dust the door for footmarks (of which there were some, but not clear enough for anything). (And he was an ex-firefighter, and noticed the sootmarks, and also chatted a bit about DIY.) Then in the afternoon two polis showed up, asking what brand the steamer was, what about the electric saw... turned out they'd confiscated several items from a known "prolific housebreaker" on suspicion of being stolen items. They'd done this on Tuesday. That is, before we noticed anything was gone, and before we even bought some of the stuff that went.

Dad went along to the station a bit later and came home with a bag of stuff. Only some of the stuff that went, and of course none of the new stuff, but better than nothing.

However, the timing means that the flat was broken into at least twice. We've started using the mortice lock as well as the yale, but... but... it's a bit disconcerting, especially if I'm going to be living there. I'm planning on adopting Auntie Claire's approach to potential burglary - leave some cash in plain view, near the door. (She said - this was maybe fifteen years ago, mind - that she'd had three break-ins and each time, all they'd taken was that bit of cash.) There's a certain logic to it. And it can double as an emergency stash.

Great Aunt Sheila does terrible gifts, but at least hers are insane and frightening.

You're allowed to top up a Soreness Bath if necessary. Rosemary is also good, or lavender if feeling generally frayed. I have come round to lavender since (a)buying stuff utterly out of my price range and (b)discovering its magic PMS-slaying effects.
