I went to Laa's. We watched all of Atlantis. It was gay.

Then we watched the first ep of QAF, and then slept, and then went into town but the optician's was shut and then I came home.

Um.

We were talking Atlantis OTPs, and I think Het is Shep/Weir, Slash is Carson/Rodney (they are so married. In their very first scene, so very married), Other Het is Ford/Teyla (because they are cute and also Shepwhore ships them, he keeps sending them off together) and that is all happynice because it's all balanced and they all have someone. But then Shepwhore and Rodney keep flirting. And Lizzie and Teyla have a thing. And Shepwhore and Ford have the sekrit gay code of turkey sandwiches.

But then Shepwhore just flirts with everyone, he flirted with Jack (oh, and J/D, first ep? so married. "I could just get my bag..." "No.") and he eyed up Sumner, for fuck sake. And I think maybe it's less sexual than it's an ingratiating technique (which makes me start ficcing, but oh well).

QAF also made me want to fic. Stuart's line, "Why doesn't somebody stop me? It's not my fault. Somebody should stop me." I wonder who that somebody could be? But then I had QAF dreams, which included Vince having sex with Lisa in order to make Alfred a 'sibling'. Except not wanking and IVF. Actual sex. Which is terrifying and wrong.

Oh, wow. I'm on this mailing list of poetry, it's intermittent because of copyright and stuff, but the one he sent out on Saturday is lyrics for Which Way Are You Goin'? by Jim Croce. "One hand on the bible / One hand on the gun" And it seems like list guy's making a somewhat pointed statement, no? Scary, though, that it's still applicable thirty years after it was written.

Ugh. Go eat now.

omg I have to see that show! Everyone keeps telling me it is The gayer stargate!!! How can one not love such a thing! (do not be frightened, i followed you over here from nostalgia_lj's post, I am not a mad stalker...well not too mad...ok I am mad but not a stalker...well not too much)

Apparently that's what happens in the US version - the Vince equivalent (who acts nothing like Vince, but that's beside the point) does spermy non-sex stuff with the other lesbian to make a sibling. Accurat dreams you've got there!

Gah! No! Seriously? That's freaky. Freakywrong. In terms of psychicness, that is, but also in the fact that it happened at all with them, though at least they didn't do actual sex, so my dream is still more wrong.

Well, apparently they wanted Brian (the Stuart equivalent) to do the turkey-baster thing again with the other lesbian, so that they could have two kids who were siblings in some way, but there was some fight going on so Brian wouldn't, and they got the Vince equivalent to instead.

The lesbians are pretty different in the US version, and Michael's very different to Vince. And Nathan's upper-class! And Brian is a sweet pushover compared to Stuart! Ah, it's weird. I've only seen the first season, but I'm going to download more after life stops being so hectic.

Well, it works best when you see it as completely different to the UK version. (Which, after all, it kinda has to be to last longer than the original miniseries.) That way I can enjoy them both. They do mess up every memorable scene they lift from the UK version, but mostly it's new stuff which is damn good.

(Any US people reading this will balk at my description of Brian as a sweet pushover. They all think he's a nasty, nasty man. That's because they haven't seen Stuart.)

It took me ages to figure out what the hell Atlantis you meant. I was actually thinking; "She watched that shitty Disney Movie? But it was shit- and Disney. And a total rip off of Laputa." And I couldn't remember what characters were who, so I did a search, and the first link was actually for the Disney one (and I then realised none of the characters you mentioned had those names) but then I saw This, so I guess that's it.

So, what, is Stargate SG1 finished?! Say it ain't so. Also that Ford guy looks like that alien who they thought was a member of the team... you know the one.

Still don't know what QAF is. Probably don't want to.
