So I'm toying with the idea of writing original shite again, and I was wondering if any of you lot would like to be on the filter for my flailing. This is all premature, because I've written a few hundred words and have no idea where most of it's going, but. And I was going to make an icon to show you the pretty (mental casting for the character nicknamed Hotass, who disturbs people's sexualities, is Jensen Ackles) but I can't, because I was going through this set of, like, 160 pics that I dl'd, and I cannot choose and I am only a third of the way through and most of the ones I've discarded have been for unsuitable lighting and it is not fair! how can one man be so pretty! I am disturbed! and I cannot believe I am shrieking like this in public but I am! because I'm all flaily anyway, dammit, and now I'm looking at these and going omg.
Also, may they be buggered with cacti, I have been refused incapacity benefit, so I don't know what's going on with the money I got. I think perhaps it is Income Support but I do not know what I'm supposed to do about that and. argh. etc. *flails again in a bad way*
*looks at more pictures. omg arms. hands. guns. eee.* *flails*

Date: 2006-05-14 04:50 pm (UTC)They get you to apply for both as you'll qualify for one or t'other. It is a National Insurance thing: IS is until you build up enough NI credits for IB and then die of TMI (Too Many Initialisms). Thus you can get whichever you qualify for most quickly if you start by applying for both. Once you're on IB things like incapacity testing kick in, whereas IS is done on sick notes, so is nicer really.
So yes, you are not refused support you are merely given the one that you qualify for now. It would be nicer had they EXPLAINED it better but hey.
DLA is also a consideration but you will need help applying (CAB are good) and will v. prolly be refused first-off unless you have really good medical backup like Laa's eighteen support workers or my dad's long-standing setup with mental health worker at GP. They tend to tell you to expect refusal first-off and then come back for help with appeal. It is proper money but it is also enormous effort so it is quite legitimate not to be able to face it if you can manage as you are. Money is not everything when the forms are that nasty...
