I think this week was our summer. Today was not quite as nice, I believe? I don't know because I was asleep. But four straight days of beautiful sunshine. It was quite nice. God, to be warm again, unbelievable. I got sunburned on Tuesday. (That day was quite good. We took a trip to a little local museum, and it took over two hours to get there, then about half an hour in the museum to do what we needed to do. Then we saw the old church. Then we went to Castle Dangerous (I kid ye not, that is the name, but it is a Walter Scott-ism) and then for a little walk in the woods, and then we came back. I was not very burned - my upper arm and upper chest are still pink, but lower arms have faded to tan. It was fun, anyway.)

I'm sure there were other things about this week that I was going to say. Oh, today, during sleep, some of my dreaming was Ronon/Rodney. Which was slightly odd, as they're the pair I have most trouble with in the OT4 I'm attempting to write. So. Yeah.

And tonight, I went to see Iron Man. And I took paper and pen, so below I quote then extrapolate. Extensively.

"taking out the trash(!)" - Pepper, Pepper, Pepper. Hi, Pepper. I like you. I mean, it's not hugely professional, but if she didn't have a certain amount of snark she would so not last with Tony. Oh, and I totally was remembering sville's fic.

"don't turn down my music" - they are so domestic.

"the birthday convo!" - yes, I found it adorable. I saw it on Jonathan Ross last week (oh, I need to write that complaint, because he pissed me off, and I let it go but, dammit, that's no good, so... um, Gwyneth Paltrow was on, and there was some sexual conversation that I found OTT.) and thought so, but it was even more adorable in context. Also, with the callback line from when they are at the party? Yes. Adorable.

"jesus, Tony, you're an asshole." - this, I think, was the scene in the plane? or maybe when he walks past Rhodey going onto the plane. no, it was the drinking of sake, and that whole... thing. Also, the stripper pole rising up from the floor made me quite uncomfortable. I mean, yeek.

"Obie!" um. I just found that nickname funny. though the part where he was half-naked? not so much.

"Funvee vs Hum-drum-vee" - heh. Not really funny. And yet.

"sweaty greasy Tony. YUM." - Yeah. I stand by that.

"Tony/Rhodey - closeness (strippers!) - hug (rescue)" - there's not much subtext, but there's certainly enough. The drunken leaning of earlier, the way Tony collapses into the hug. hm. I was actually thinking, on the way home - because I told a guy at work that I was going to see it and he said I could tell him if it was any good, and I will say yes, but I always tend to err on the side of meanness, like, I don't want to mislead anyone with my enthusiasm because I have unreliable taste - anyway, Rhodey was kind of, well, he could have been cut. I mean, he's useful, but he's not necessary. But then, the same goes for the reporter woman. And there's some interesting tensions, with Rhodey, like the line between his job and his friendship with Tony, especially that scene in the hangar with the group of junior officers, or whoever the hell they were supposed to be.

"'cheeseburger first'" - oh, Tony. and that it's Burger King? BK is such crappy food. I can see him as a rebellious teenager, just going to MIT, and getting cheap crappy food for more or less the first time, and just living on it for those years. (Oh, that reminds me: I thought they did OK with 'Tony is a genius' - I mean, the award intro kinda hammers it, but it would, and they seem heavier on the 'patriot' thing, and then there's just that one scene where the engineers can't make the mini-arc-reactor (which, I did quite like Obie's reaction, of 'cave! scraps! goddammit!')) (Oh, god. A young Tony Stark and a young Rodney McKay totally ran across each other somewhere along the way. I bet they *hated* each other.)

"Pepper - freckles" - going into the press conference, I think. I just noticed them. They're cute.

"sitting on the floor!" - and the 'love-in' line... That wasn't my association. My association was primary school story-time. And I just thought it was cute. I like the contrast, too, panning down from Obadiah at the podium to Tony sitting on the floor with his burger.

"O buttoning his shirt. O is creepy." - I don't know how much of my reaction here was influenced by my knowledge that he is not a nice guy. But. Yeah. The whole invasion of space thing... hang on a second. Tony asked if it was Rhodey or Pepper; was it neither? was it a report from the guy in Afghanistan? Because P didn't seem too fond of O. And I don't think we ever saw R and O together.

"capable, qualified etc" and "I don't have anyone but you." - that scene. just. hi, OTP. They are so goddamn cute together I don't have words. (I think I missed a Look when I glanced down to grab my paper. I may have to, y'know, find that out.)

"Tony's fucking deathwish" - that was to him flying up... and up... well, a little to his test flight in the first place. And also to his whoop of glee when he nearly hits the ground. And also, actually, to the excessive amounts of alcohol, the walking into the line of fire, etcetera, etcetera (and hey! Pepper agrees with me, later on!) But mostly to the flying up to stupid altitudes. Even though it turns out useful.

"he fell through the roof!" - OK. This is because the trailer is cut so it looks like, y'know, his thrusters cut out and he falls from very high and just happens to crash into his place, which I thought was a bit odd. But no. He goes home and then he, um. Crashes through the roof. Silly man.

"!!!!! the award !!!" - the gift from Pepper. The words just made me want to hug 'em and squeeze 'em and. um. I thought, when he said to destroy it, that she might keep it for herself, which would have been good, but this was better.

"'Good boy' - they're like scutters!" - I also find Tony's robots intensely cute. The scene earlier where he's working on the legs, and the robot with the magnifying glass keeps getting in the way - it's like he made himself a puppy. And his flight tests, and 'dummy' with the fire extinguisher, I just, it's corny but they're hella cute. Also, hey, his 3-D computer control thingy? I hope to hell they marketed that, even just as an insanely high-end industrial modelling device, because it's Cool. I liked the little graphic bin, particularly.

"*killer* heels, Pep" - those have got to be four inches at *least*. And then later, she *runs* in them. I'm impressed.

And that's the end of my notes, as I got slightly involved in the last section. Again, Pepper was cute, and she was cute with Tony - the way she smoothes him? ee. and her recitation of event on 'that night'? hee! - and Tony was cute. And the press conference, and Tony's last line... He may be a genius but he does some damn stupid things.

I would so sex him up.

I was one of three people who waited for the post-credits scene. There were only about twenty in the theatre, though. I should go to late showings more often. But, yeah, I think it was worth staying.

*thinks* anything else? I liked the way they handled the beginning - bringing us pretty much straight to the ambush, because we've seen it already, it was in the trailer, and it's an attention-getter, then scrolling back 36 hours to start the story.

Oh, that was the other thing. Burma. Myanmar. The cyclone. I donated to Doctors Without Borders - they're out there, they're helping.
