I just went to Ikea and I only took half an hour and I only spent ten quid more than I intended so that is a big success. I was planning on going other places but did not realise how heavy/awkward stuff would be so I am home again and will go places tomorrow.

I got: 200 tealights (this was the impetus - G called a couple of nights ago, she wants them for the wedding reception, she had meant to get them from the supermarket but the checkout girl told her they were crap, so.)
24 bigger candles (in the same style, as an option)
MY CLOCK (that I have been meaning to buy for aaaaaaaages but possibly should have put off a little longer so I, y'know, had somewhere to put it.)
an organizer thing (that is supposed to hang on a rail which I do not currently have. um.)
two multisockets (a pack of two, that is, and they are odd-looking but should be useful)
two packets of Pepparkakor (biscuits that I adore)
and a box of heart-shaped chocolates (to tease G with)

And an ice-cream, of course. And at one point I saw a streak of red on it, and thought, 'accidental strawberry sauce?' then realised that no, I had cut my mouth with the wafer cone. I win at life, clearly.

Tonight I am going to the shopping centre with stepmother to look for shoes for me for the wedding. I do not really need shoes but they might be nice. And it should pacify her, also. Yah.

ETA: Two hours. Shoes and hair things each and a bag for her (I do not want a bag and if I do then I will finish my skull bag and use that despite its gross inappropriateness. So there.

Yes to the unexpected weight of candles.

Scarlet/Jenny is going to be red. It is that waterproof cloth stuff because n00bs cannot be trusted not to get PVA glue all over their first efforts. (Very wise indeed, I think.) The cover is made in that I have stuck cloth to boards, but it is not yet a Book Cover so much as some cloth and board that happens to correspond in size to a naked book. I hope I did not feck it up too much as I have not had Inspection.

I should phone you instead of rambling in comments. I wish phones were easier. I should also try to stop losing at finance so I can visit. It will be, um, maybe a month until that happens which is not cheering. I have those high heels and some Clothes from January-saleage so that should be it for such things for a while, and if I get Baba to buy things like shampoo it will stop me buying shite in Boots. Also if he does the food shopping I do not spend all my money on ice cream and crisps and might even be forced to cook. And I can make myself not buy wool for that hooded thing by promising it to myself as a reward for finishing my current knitting. That seems quite sensible really and carrots >>> sticks.

Now I have used comments to make plans in an inappropriate place instead of ramble in an inappropriate place. Progress y/y?

OMG I hope book is not crap. I console myself with thought that you will like it anyway because people are FOOLISHLY NOT CRITICAL of things people make them even when they have all the flaws POINTED OUT IN DETAIL.

Also, you do not lose at life, Ikea lose at blunt cornets.

At least you re-ate the blood, thus minimising waste. That is prudent.

I have a post brewing, with Thoughts and some things Marco said when I did preliminaries of Thoughts at him, about my tendency to express myself through Buying Stuff. Marco suggests that as a shy person I may be doing it because of general nerves re: self-expression which may be a point. Also it's like our, like, capitalist, like, culture, man.

It will be good to give books away because you and Laa will give them love and not criticism. I have been planning in my head how to file the pile of corduroy for covering, and that is a bit warped. But hey, ambition is supposedly Good or summat.

That is an excellent summary of the Buying Stuff question and one which I shall embrace because practicality is better as a disincentive than Guilt.

My current brown cords are only crappy H&M but as men's cord they have still outlasted one pair of equivalent lady ones and are in better shape than the about-to-die second pair. Man cords are of course man shape, but that isn't really any worse than the wrong woman shape. They won't be so thigh-fitted, but then that is not necessarily a priority, and the relative lack of arse space is compensated for by the fact that men's trousers have not been subject to the "look, here are my pubes and also here is my arse cleavage" trend. And women with tummies are usually ignored by women's clothing because obviously they do not exist in a world where fashion takes a boyish size eight and then crudely sizes up.

Argh. Have I thought about this too much?
