having just watched "Battlefield" with
ogam, have found my favourite canon couple ever in the entirety of TV. Ancelyn and Brigadier Winifred Bambera. They so cute!!!
And yes, I'm just posting this so I remember to fic them at some point, so you don't have to look at the quotes.
She tries to stop him walking off, he calls her a peasant, they fight in the background as the Doctor etc walk off.
"I am vanquished, and threw myself upon her mercy."
and the sleeping with their heads on each other's shoulders
and he calls her "my lady" and she tells him not to
then they're in the car and she's pissed off and he has the keys and waves them at her
"So are you married or what?"
and then they're in the woods, and she tells him about 'tactical retreat'
"Art thou betrothed?"
and then there's lots of fighting and "we will fight on" "it's what we're paid for"
and then "Sergeant, where's the coffee?" and
"thou hast slain my beloved; my life has no meaning"
and then the end, which is fab, with 'the girls' off for a ride, and "they are magnificent" and "do you know how to work a lawnmower?" and "I'll take care of supper" and it's just... cute.
and there was lots of fab Ace-ness in this, with her doing the Lady-in-the-Lake impersonation and blowing shit up (and oh, "the timers need a little work" and the story about the home-made gelignite at school and "who's Elizabeth Shaw?" (and oh, Brigadier was good, as was Ace being a tad pissed off at him, and... eee)) and there was cuteness with the Doctor being worried about her and the reciprocal and. yeah.
And Marcus Gilbert, the guy that plays Ancelyn, was pretty cute too. Angela Bruce, who was BWB, had awful hair though. Um. Yeah. Going now.
