Having read The Year Of Intelligent Tigers... omgtheslashy! I can see why nostalgia says Karl/Eight is ever-so-nearly-canon. But I can also... I dunno, I can see that maybe it isn't, because it's the music thing, and I get how you can dive in so deep and it can be very sensual without necessarily being sexual. There's a vibe between a composer and a conductor and a concerto-soloist that could conceivably get quite intense, especially in that sort of environment. But. Yes.

Also. Stuff. I liked the continual musical references and structuring. Fitz was fab. Oh, the socks! The "Whoah!" and "Oh." and... socks! And setting up the concert, and suchlike. And it was really quite sad, overall. And Eight was quite a cunt. And now I see what nostalgia meant about Anji not trusting him. And.

And. I so want to live there. Except, y'know, before or after, not during. Because, the music. I love the music. So it sounds like a sort of paradise, except I'd probably spend every other day in the library just so I could stop feeling it and calm down.

You know what it is? I think it's that Orman & Cornell and that cabal have a different Doctor than I do. The NAs being the big one, really. But.. Intelligent Tigers... I mean, my Doctor can be a bit dark at times, but he's always kind, and less convinced that being alien is an excuse for being a cunt. And... I think my Anji would never have spoken to him again. Actually, that's a bit of an issue for the EDAs in general. Fitz will forgive Eight for anything, because he loves trusts him so much, but Anji doesn't have that. There's no way she'd let him get away with half the shit he pulls. She'd just sit and sulk in the TARDIS till he got her home.

But... Orman's one, the NAs one, he's just over the line into cuntishness far too often. He's nice, that's his whole concept. He only does dreadful things when there really is no other choice. And he's totally aware of how much it hurts people. He's not going to go mad on the power, because he never has. And his whole mental thing is that the Time Lords are mad on the power and up their own arses so he's going to be nice. Just.. fuck you Doctor, going off with your tigers. You know damn well you've got more with the humans, having, y'know, lived with them and them being your entire life for a hundred years. And he sees the good in them, and isn't going to just abandon them and...

Bloody Orman. She can write though, I'll give her that. But there's only so much I'll take when personal fanwank is in semi-canon print.
